‘The Descendants’ an audience favorite
“The Descendants,” a comedy-drama filmed in Hawaii by director Alexander Payne and starring George Clooney, was the Audience Award winner for favorite narrative feature at the 31st Hawaii International Film Festival, which ended Sunday.
Other Audience Award winners are favorite documentary feature “Aloha Buddha,” directed by Bill Ferehawk and Dylan Robertson, and favorite short film “Tsuyako,” directed by Mitsuyo Miyazaki.
Ballots for the Audience Awards were distributed at screenings during the 11-day film festival.
Elton John tickets go on sale Saturday
Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. Saturday for Elton John’s “Greatest Hits Live” concert Jan. 6 at Blaisdell Arena.
John has played almost 3,000 concerts since launching his career in 1969. He has 35 gold and 25 platinum albums to his credit, and has sold more than 250 million records worldwide. His single, “Candle in the Wind ’97” — a tribute to the late Princess Diana — is the biggest selling single of all time, with more than 37 million copies sold.
Elton John’s band includes Davey Johnstone on guitar, Bob Birch on bass, John Mahon on percussion, Nigel Olsson on drums, and Kim Bullard on keyboards.
