Traffic incident ends in man’s arrest
Kauai police arrested a 44-year-old Anahola man who allegedly punched a man several times in a traffic incident Sunday.
Police said a visitor driving a Jeep Wrangler had passed the suspect’s vehicle, a Nissan Frontier pickup, while traveling west on Kaumualii Highway near the Omao bridge.
The suspect followed the victim and blocked the Jeep in front of Lawai Mortuary. Police said he went to the Jeep and punched the driver, who was still inside the car. The victim had minor injuries and refused medical attention.
Officers responded at 9:36 a.m. and arrested the man on suspicion of unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle. He was released after posting $1,000 bail.
Woman held after hitting assault suspect
A 21-year-old Kapolei woman who reported she was sexually assaulted during the weekend ended up being arrested after police said she hit and pushed her suspected assailant while he was in custody.
The woman told police she was sexually attacked early Sunday morning.
Police arrested a suspect several hours later on suspicion of second-degree sexual assault. Police said the woman struck and pushed the suspect and was arrested for third-degree assault.
