A preliminary hearing will be conducted Wednesday for a 24-year-old Salt Lake man charged with attempted murder in an attack with a machete in Kalihi last week. McNeil Valencia was being held in lieu of $75,000 bail after his arrest Wednesday. Police said Valencia drove to a home on Eluwene Street just before 11 p.m. Wednesday, confronted a 23-year-old man and accused him of stealing from him. Valencia wielded a machete and cut the victim on his ear, face and collarbone, a neighbor told police.
