Kahaluu house fire displaces 4 residents

Four people were left homeless Tuesday after a fire destroyed their home and forced firefighters to close Kamehameha Highway for about 90 minutes in Kahaluu.

The two-alarm fire started at 7:19 p.m. and was brought under control at 7:47 p.m., said Honolulu fire Capt. Terry Seelig.

The fire destroyed the single-story, single-family home in the 49-020 block of Kamehameha Highway, Seelig said. The two-bedroom home was built of redwood and constructed in the 1950s.
