1. Starter out

» The Play: QB Chuckie Keeton scrambles for 14 yards, but LB Art Laurel forces a fumble recovered by LB Aaron Brown. Keeton is hurt on the play.
» Impact: Hawaii goes on a nine-play, 68-yard drive that ends with QB Bryant Moniz finding SR Miah Ostrowski for an 18-yard TD pass and a 28-7 halftime lead. Keeton is taken to a hospital and is replaced by backup Adam Kennedy, who leads Utah State on a second-half comeback.

2. Just short

» The Play: Moniz keeps and stretches forward in attempt to get the first down. But an officials’ measurement determines Hawaii is short of the first down.
» Impact: Utah State gets the ball on downs and immediately Kennedy passes deep to Stanley Morrison for a 71-yard touchdown.
» Moniz: "I thought I had it from the initial spot, but when the chains came out, I didn’t have it. It’s a game of inches."
3. Big sack
» Situation: Hawaii 31, Utah State 28, 5:40 remaining, fourth quarter, Hawaii ball, third and 8 at Hawaii 32
» The Play: Moniz is sacked by LB Bojay Filimoeatu for a 3-yard loss, one play after Filimoeatu contains RB Joey Iosefa for a 2-yard loss.
» Impact: Hawaii punts the ball away and doesn’t get it back again until after Utah State takes the lead and kicks off with 14 seconds left in the game.
» Filimoeatu: "Fourth quarters our defense always lays down and we didn’t want to take it anymore. We finally delivered."
4. Interference
» Situation: Hawaii 31, Utah State 28, around 3:00 remaining, fourth quarter, Utah State ball, third and 14 at Utah State 48
» The Play: Hawaii CB Tank Hopkins is called for pass interference on WR Matt Austin.
» Impact: Utah State’s game-winning drive is extended. Five plays later, Kennedy connects with Austin for a 17-yard gain to the Hawaii 6.
» Hopkins: "He put his hands on me the whole game. The one time I put my hands on him, they call it. It is what it is."
5. Turbin powered
» Situation: Hawaii 31, Utah State 28, 0:16 remaining, fourth quarter, Utah State ball, second and goal at Hawaii 1
» The Play: Utah State running back Robert Turbin bulls in for a touchdown.
» Impact: Utah State kicks the extra point, making it 35-31. After the kickoff, Hawaii has the ball at its 20 with 11 seconds left. Moniz scrambles 21 yards and then the Warriors desperately toss the ball around. It eventually hits the ground and is recovered by Utah State’s Nevin Lawson to end the game.
» Hawaii defensive tackle Vaughn Meatoga: "If you stop them you’re on a high. They made one more play than we did."
