Learn to create healthy birthday cakes
Keep birthday parties healthier with cakes made without food colorings, artificial ingredients, high-fructose corn syrup and trans fats at a birthday cake class at Baby aWEARness on Sunday.
Cakes and frostings with natural ingredients, such as lemon, German chocolate, chai and nut butter, will be featured, with samples provided of a few cakes.

Cooking class spotlights Chinese dishes
Learn to make Chinese dishes from two masters — chef Russell Siu and "Popo’s Kitchen" author June Tong — at the next cooking class at 3660 on the Rise.
On the lineup is Shrimp Toast, Ipp Jai (Steamed Dumpling with Pork), Kung Pao Chicken, Steamed Fillet of Fish Hong Kong Style and Lychee Parfait.
The class, which includes servings of each dish with wine, runs 6 p.m. Nov. 17 at the restaurant. Cost is $65. Call 737-1177.
Whole Foods treats its tweeps to wine
Join what will surely be quite a crowd at Whole Foods Kahala on Nov. 17 when the store invites its 4,000 Twitter followers to a holiday-themed wine tasting.
Wine distributors Terralsole Wines, JMD Beverages and Johnson Bros. will present some offerings, and local tweeps are invited to tweet their favorite vintages at #wfmkahalawine on Twitter.

Cookbook marks church’s 100th year
Parishioners of St. Joseph Church on Maui have created a cookbook to celebrate their centennial. The collection includes more than 400 recipes, and proceeds will go toward a new multipurpose center.
