Ricketts, Parnaby combine for no-hitter
Hawaii’s Stephanie Ricketts and Kaia Parnaby teamed up to throw a no-hitter in the Rainbow Wahine’s 12-0 exhibition softball victory over Hawaii-Hilo on Saturday at Maui High’s Patsy Mink Softball Stadium.
Rickets went the first four innings and Parnaby finished up the final three. Each pitcher had seven strikeouts.
Hawaii closed its fall season with the win.
At the plate, Dara Pagaduan led the way by going 3-for-4 with a triple and four RBIs. Kayla Wartner went 2-for-4 with a homer and three RBIs.
Chaminade opens with hoops victory
Bennie Murray scored 29 points and Matt Cousins added 18 points with 14 rebounds to lead Chaminade to an 80-60 men’s basketball victory over Saint Martin’s (Wash.) on Saturday night in the opener for both teams in Hilo.
Roger O’Neill scored 15 points and Brok Pendleton had 12 rebounds to lead the Saints.
BYUH sweeps HPU in volleyball
BYUH beat Hawaii Pacific 25-22, 25-23, 25-18 at St. Andrew’s Priory gym for its ninth women’s volleyball win in a row.
Lauren Hagemeyer had 14 kills and hit .407 for the Seasiders (18-3, 15-1 PacWest). Sanoe Recca led the Sea Warriors (15-10, 10-6) with 15 kills.
Hawaii-Hilo drops Chaminade in 3
Hillary Hurley pounded 13 kills to lead Hawaii-Hilo to a 25-10, 25-12, 25-12 women’s volleyball victory over Chaminade on Saturday at McCabe Gym.
Whitney Viveiros put down six kills to lead the Silverswords (2-21, 1-15 Pacific West Conference).
Olivia Lane had six block assists for UHH (15-6, 11-5).
