David Downs scored 24 points to lead Seattle Pacific past Brigham Young-Hawaii 76-65 in men’s basketball Saturday in Seattle.

Andy Poling added 22 points for the Falcons (4-0).

Bracken Funk scored 17 to lead the Seasiders (0-3).

San Diego downs UHH in hoops

Lauren Freidenberg scored 20 points to lead UC San Diego to a 68-50 win over the Hawaii-Hilo women’s basketball team in the Vulcan Classic on Saturday in Hilo.

Erin Dautremont had nine rebounds for the Tritons (2-0).

Jameia McDuffie scored 12 points to lead the Vulcans (0-2).

Hawaii Pacific tops Alaska Fairbanks

Skye Savini scored 17 points and the Hawaii Pacific women’s team beat Alaska Fairbanks 83-66 in the Vulcan Classic on Saturday in Hilo.

Mana Hopkins grabbed 11 rebounds for the Sea Warriors (1-1). Nicole Bozek had a game-high 19 points for the Nanooks (1-1).

Chen, Hurley make West region team

Middle blockers Shih Ting Chen of Brigham Young-Hawaii and Hillary Hurley of Hawaii-Hilo were picked to the Daktronics NCAA Division II West Region volleyball first team.

Hawaii Pacific libero Kyra Pelayo made the second team.
