Hit-and-run accidents injure 2 men
Two men were injured, one critically, in separate hit-and-run traffic incidents Sunday in the Ala Moana area.
In the first, a four-door sedan turning left on Rycroft Street from Sheridan Street struck a 55-year-old man riding a mo-ped traveling south on Sheridan at about 5:55 p.m.
Police said the driver of the car kept going west on Rycroft.
In the other accident, a four-door white Volvo driven by a 48-year-old Palolo man struck a pedestrian who was crossing Kapiolani Boulevard at Kamakee Street against the light at about 8:40 p.m., police said. The driver was arrested on charges of accidental injury, driving without a license and first-degree negligent injury.
After being hit by the Volvo, the 52-year-old male victim was struck a second time by a large, black SUV that fled the scene. The pedestrian had internal injuries and was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, according to police.

Construction worker arrested in theft
Police arrested a 43-year-old construction worker Sunday after he apparently attempted to steal items belonging to the person whose apartment he was helping to renovate.
The apartment owner had been given permission to store items in a vacant unit next door while her place was being renovated, police said. The contractor also had permission to access the vacant apartment while working.
At about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, when no work was scheduled, the worker was found inside the apartment in possession of the woman’s property. He was arrested on suspicion of second-degree theft.
