A University of Hawaii at Manoa student reported that she was sexually assaulted Tuesday morning while in a dressing room and shower area at Kennedy Theatre.
The 18-year-old woman told security officers that she was attacked about 6:40 a.m. after she finished a jog and went to use the dressing room before her class, which was in the building, said UH campus security Chief Wayne Ogino.
The assailant apparently got in through the fire exit on the side of the building, which is near the dressing room, and probably left the same way, Ogino said. The man fondled the woman, he said.
Officials described the suspect as dark-complexioned, 5 feet 8 and about 180 to 200 pounds, with brownish, bleached bushy hair. He wore a flannel checkered-print long-sleeved shirt and carried a backpack. Police opened a sex assault and kidnapping case.
The sexual assault follows an unrelated assault on another woman Saturday morning on the campus near Murakami Stadium.
In that incident, a student was accosted and injured by a male as she returned to her residence hall about 3:20 a.m., security officials said.
The assailant was described as a tall man wearing blue jeans and a dark blue, long-sleeved buttoned shirt with dark shiny shoes.
Anyone with information about either incident should call campus security at 956-6911 or police at 911.
