Today is the day for making your Christmas shopping list and checking it twice against the roster of deals being offered to holiday shoppers, and arming yourself with sleeping bags and fortifying snacks to wait out the lines. For Friday, the diehard yule fanatics will not be deterred from returning home victorious with a sackful of holiday spoils.

As always, the day will be filled with enticing perks, giveaways and special events to delight spirited Santas and the grumpiest of Scrooges, with plenty of options for both naughty and nice on your shopping list.

Most of the special offers have restrictions, such as “while supplies last” or “one per customer” or “gift-card purchases excluded,” so be sure to ask or do your research ahead of time. The ThanksGetting Day Event has the mall open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., with store early-bird openings as follows:

Extended shopping hours begin on Black Friday, with shops opening from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. tomorrow, then from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays Saturday through Dec. 10. Then get three more hours every day when the mall closes at 9 p.m. daily through Dec. 23. Last-minute Santas can shop 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Christmas Eve.

KAHALA MALL

Macy’s will be opening at midnight, with more than 40 stores following suit at 7 a.m. on Black Friday and regular mall hours running from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. To sweeten the experience, shoppers who purchase $125 or more in same-day receipts (from 7 a.m.) will receive a $10 Kahala Mall gift certificate and breakfast items from Whole Foods Market and Starbucks Coffee. In addition, there will be prize giveaways every three hours at center court. Prizes include a two-night, three-day stay at The Kahala Hotel & Resort (8 a.m.), a $200 shopping spree at Kahala Mall (11 a.m.), a dinner for two at Hoku’s restaurant (2 p.m.) and a family movie gift pack from Consolidated’s Kahala 8 Theatres (5 p.m.).

WARD CENTERS

Open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Black Friday, with the first Santa photo appearance at 11 a.m. between Toys R Us Express (formerly Borders) and Paul Brown Salon. » Crazy Shirts Factory Outlet: All outlet markdown items will be $5.99. The price will be $7.99 on Saturday and Sunday.

» Downtown Gifthings: Enjoy 20 percent off storewide through Sunday. The first 50 customers who spend $50 or more will receive a free gift.

» Eden in Love: The boutique will host a sale so big it will take up both the second-floor conference rooms at Ward Warehouse, with early birds getting the best deals. From 9 to 10 a.m., customers will receive a 40 percent discount. The discount will decrease every hour, with shoppers receiving 30 percent off everything from 10 to 11 a.m., 25 percent off from 11 a.m. to noon and 20 percent off until 9 p.m. Early birds also can enjoy a free breakfast bar, and there will be a “comfy zone” for guys who prefer to sit it out.
