Despite the uncertainty surrounding the University of Hawaii football program, the show must go on.
Sunday night’s Warriors football banquet at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel was held as planned and much laughter and tears were shared with players’ families and friends.
For the second year in a row, quarterback Bryant Moniz took home the top prize, despite missing the last month of the season with a broken ankle suffered in a game at Nevada.
Moniz was named winner of the Alec Waterhouse Award as most valuable player. A senior from Wahiawa, Moniz completed 62.5 percent of his passes for 2,733 yards and 22 touchdowns before suffering the injury several weeks ago.
Had the Warriors knocked off Brigham Young University on Saturday, Moniz had a chance to be ready for the Sheraton Hawaii Bowl on Christmas Eve.
