Hawaii ranked fourth-healthiest state
Hawaii ranks fourth in a state-by-state health analysis.
United Health Foundation released its 2011 America’s Health Rankings Tuesday, showing that Hawaii moved up from last year’s ranking of fifth.
The rankings highlight Hawaii’s health strengths as a low rate of uninsured population, high per capita public health funding and low rate of preventable hospitalizations. The Aloha State’s challenges include low immunization coverage, high prevalence of binge drinking and a low high school graduation rate.
Bogus Postal Service email plants virus
The U.S. Postal Service is warning people about bogus emails, ostensibly from the Postal Service, that contain a computer virus.
The emails claim to be from the U.S. Postal Service and contain fraudulent information about an attempted or intercepted package delivery. Recipients are instructed to click on a link to find out when they can expect delivery.
But postal inspectors warn people to not click on the link. Doing so will install a malicious computer virus that can steal personal information — such as your user name, password and financial account information — from your computer.
The Postal Service says people should simply delete the message.

Manslaughter charge brought against suspect
Hawaii County authorities charged a 21-year-old Hilo man Tuesday afternoon with manslaughter in the death of Roy Williams Jr., 44, of Mountain View.
Waylen Carenio allegedly fought with Williams outside a Hilo sports bar early Saturday morning, police said.
Just after 3 a.m. Saturday, bystanders flagged down patrol officers, who found Williams unconscious and lying on the roadway.
Witnesses said Williams had been in an altercation with another man when he fell to the ground and hit his head on the pavement, police said.
Williams was taken to the Hilo Medical Center and transferred to the Queen’s Medical Center, where he died Sunday evening.
Police initially arrested Carenio on suspicion of second-degree murder Monday, but he was charged with the lesser offense Tuesday.
Carenio is being held in lieu of $50,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court today.
