Get your goth on at inaugural ‘Dark Alice in Wonderland’ ball
Camera Obscura & Decadent Events will present its inaugural “Dark Alice in Wonderland” ball at The Venue, beginning at 9 p.m. Friday.
The event, born in Portland, Ore., re-envisions Lewis Carroll’s “Alice in Wonderland” tale as a gothic feast for the eyes, with event-goers invited to use their imaginations in dressing as Dark Alice or any of the other characters that populate Wonderland.
There will also be a show of Dark Alice in Wonderland apparel by Lady Jane Metcalf, and a Dark Alice tribute performance by Violetta Beretta, Mabsy and Miss Fortune.
Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The Venue is at 1146 Bethel St. For more information, visit www.djnocturna.com.
Cleanup pairs charity, fashion
You’ll be in fashionable company and do some good when the Surfrider Foundation Oahu Chapter hosts a Sunset Beach Park cleanup from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.

Volunteers should bring sunscreen, water, gloves and recycled plastic bags to pick up trash. Airwalk will be donating sneakers, limited-edition 25th anniversary slippers and backpacks to volunteers, and San Lorenzo will be giving away some of its swimsuits at the lunch.
