Weekly honor to BYUH’s Ale
Brigham Young-Hawaii junior guard Okesene “Junior” Ale was named the conference player of the week in men’s basketball
The Kahuku product averaged 14.0 points, 3.5 assists and 2.0 steals in a 1-1 week for the Seasiders. Ale was 4-for-4 from the line with two 3-pointers and five assists as BYUH defeated host Hawaii Hilo 76-72 in the conference opener for both.
Men’s honor roll
» Terrell Mack: UHH: The junior swingman scored 15 points with four rebounds and four assists in the Vulcans’ only game of the week, a 76-72 loss to BYUH.
» Zachary Wilde, UHH: The senior forward had game highs of 20 points and 16 rebounds in the loss to the Seasiders.
Women’s honor roll
» Hillary Hurley, UHH: The senior forward was named to the AT&T Hoops Classic all-tournament team after leading the Vulcans to a 2-1 record. She averaged 15.0 points, 9.7 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game and was 14-for-19 from the line.
» Kirsten Shimizu, UHH: The junior guard was named to the all-tournament team at the AT&T Hoops Classic after averaging 8.3 points, 4.3 assists and 2.7 steals. She was 7-for-8 from the line.
» Shayla Washington, BYUH: The junior forward averaged 16.3 points and 9.0 rebounds as the Seasiders went 1-2 last week.
SOCCER
HPU hosts soccer camp
The Winter Sea Warriors Soccer Camp, with Hawaii Pacific women’s coach Gina Brewer and staff, is scheduled for Monday through Wednesday at HPU’s Hawaii Loa Campus.
The skills camp is open to boys and girls, ages 5-12, and runs from 9 a.m. until noon. The cost is $45. Email gbrewer@hpu.edu for more information.
