New hours at Ala Moana
Ala Moana Farmers’ Market’s holiday hours will become permanent.
The market, open 7 to 10 a.m. Saturday, will be closed the following Saturday (Christmas Eve). It will open 8 a.m. to noon on New Year’s Eve, and these hours will continue weekly.
The market is on the upper deck by Sears at Ala Moana Center. Email alamoanafarmersmarket@gmail.com.
Make mochi treats
The Rev. Earl Ikeda of Moiliili Hongwanji will demonstrate how to make confectionaries from mochi rice from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii.
Mochi is often a part of traditional Japanese New Year’s feasts and special celebrations such as birthdays, Girls’ Day and Boys’ Day.

Slow Food fashion
Help support Slow Food Oahu by purchasing a specially designed T-shirt by Pegge Hopper. The shirt features the signature Slow Food snail emblem on the front and the “‘ono & pono” slogan and trademark taro leaf design on the back.
