Man charged in thrashing of woman
A 25-year-old Kaneohe man was charged Wednesday with second-degree assault in the beating of his girlfriend in Kahaluu. Brandon Kenji Shimomura was being held in lieu of $250,000 bail.
At about 1:45 a.m. Tuesday, police dispatch received an anonymous call of a man beating up a woman near Ahuimanu Road and Kahekili Highway. The victim, 27, was seen running away from Shimomura toward the Hygenic Store. In a second call, a resident on Ahaolelo Road reported that a woman was at her home asking for help.
Paramedics took the victim to Castle Medical Center.
Police arrested Shimomura on Tuesday in the area of Ahuimanu Road and Kahekili Highway when he returned in his vehicle.
Suspect arrested in senior’s exploitation
Police arrested a 40-year-old Makiki man Wednesday for allegedly exploiting an elderly man in Pauoa this month.
The younger man gained the confidence of the older man and took money from him on Dec. 5 and tried again on Dec. 15, police said.
The suspect was released at 7 p.m. pending investigation.
