Police are conducting a murder investigation into the death of a man whose body was found in the middle of a Kalihi street early Wednesday.
The city Department of Medical Examiner identified the man as Acme John, 42, of Honolulu.
Police said a pedestrian found John’s body in the middle of the road at Kahai Street, just west of Kalihi Street, about 2:11 a.m.
Police Maj. William Chur said the man suffered what appeared to be multiple stab wounds as well as head trauma.
Detectives said the injuries appear suspicious in origin but did not elaborate. John may have been dead for several hours.
An autopsy is scheduled for today.
Police said they have no suspects at this point. Anyone with information is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Division at 529-3115.
Meanwhile, Maui police have identified the man found dead on a beach as a native of Baton Rouge, La., who was working on Maui. An autopsy revealed that William George Sublett, 57, died of severe head trauma. Police Lt. Wayne Ibarra said Wednesday the manner of death was still under investigation.
Police launched a murder investigation after a woman found him dead on the beach near a wastewater treatment plant in Kahului on Christmas.
Ibarra says it was not clear how long Sublett had lived on Maui.
