MISALUCHA OPENS AT SHOWROOM | 1. Coco Chandelier, second from left, and Hawaiian Style Band founder Wade Cambern congratulated Lani Misalucha, center, after her opening-night show Dec. 20 at the Magic of Polynesia Showroom. Misalucha performed with the Society of Seven at Hawaii Theatre in 2006, but this is her debut as a Waikiki showroom headliner. 5. Party guests Adriane Flower, left, Bill Harrison, Raiatea Helm and Jimmy and Vicki Borges talked story in a comfortable corner of White's penthouse. Borges has been known for years as a skilled improviser when it comes to lyrics, and he serenaded Helm with an a cappella version of "Mona Lisa" reworked as "Raiatea" before she left for midnight Mass.

A GREAT WHITE CHRISTMAS PARTY | 4. John Michael White and Qi Marie were assisted by her daughter, Manabu Sakurai, in hosting White's annual Christmas Eve party Dec. 24 at his downtown penthouse. The couple made 2011 a year to remember by announcing their engagement at the party and again in an email blast the next day. It was also a notable year for Sakurai, who spent two weeks in Vietnam on a Pacific and Asian Affairs Council summer tour.

LARRIN AND LEED CELEBRATE CHRISTMAS | 3. Celebrity guest Melveen Leed gave Jay Larrin a "Hawaiian face lift" while another guest was performing at Larrin's sold-out Christmas luncheon show Dec. 23 at the Hawaii Prince Hotel. Larrin presided at the piano with his ever-popular blend of acerbic wit, double-entendres and Southern charm for almost two hours. Leed joined him for a show-within-a-show that included hula, "E Ku'u Morning Dew" and a "White Christmas" parody. It was the perfect start to the Christmas weekend.
