Popular Ishikawa misses the cut
For all the fanfare Japan’s Ryo Ishikawa received this week with his Sony sponsor’s exemption, if you didn’t see the 20-year-old play Thursday and Friday, you’re out of luck.
Ishikawa followed up his opening round of 71 with a 70 on Friday to miss the cut by two shots. He needed a birdie-eagle finish to survive through the weekend, but had to settle for par-birdie.

The Japan Tour player had plenty of media following him around this week. He just couldn’t live up to all the advance billing.
