Glenwood house blaze put out

Hawaii island firefighters extinguished a fire Saturday at a residence in Glenwood.

The fire was reported at about 3 p.m.

One person was in the residence on Leila Road at the time of the fire but escaped without harm. The American Red Cross was called to assist with food, shelter and other emergency needs.

Escapee arrested upon return

A 35-year-old man was arrested Friday after allegedly escaping from a mental facility in Ewa Beach.

The man left Kahi Mohala Behavioral Health without permission Thursday and came back on his own about noon Friday.
