Free golf clinic at Ko Olina

Ko Olina Golf Club, in association with the United Athletes Foundation, the World Golf Foundation and Play Golf America, will have a free golf clinic taught by local PGA professionals Pro Bowl weekend.The clinic is open to both beginners and more experienced golfers.Participants will play with sports celebrities.

The clinic is from noon to 4 p.m. on Jan. 28 (the day before the Pro Bowl) at Ko Olina, and covers nearly every aspect of the game.

Good deals on golf at 2 Kauai courses

Two Kauai golf courses have announced special packages for 2012. Poipu Bay Golf Course and the recently renovated Makai Golf Club at the St. Regis Princeville Resort have several multi-round discounts, along with afternoon specials.

Both courses also have junior specials. At Poipu Bay, golfers 17 and under can play the course for half off the adult rate any time. After 4 p.m., junior golfers can play free if walking the course with an adult ($10 fee for adult).

At Makai Golf Club, golfers 15 and under are free any time, any day, and those age 16 and 17 are half off, and juniors can also use free Callaway rental clubs. To qualify, each junior must be accompanied by a paying adult.
