HPU men down California Baptist 58-54

Glenn Miller and Fran Urli each scored 12 points, and LaBrent Chappell added 10 as Hawaii Pacific beat California Baptist 58-54 in a Pacific West Conference men’s basketball game Thursday in Riverside, Calif.

Ivan Patterson scored 16 points for Cal Baptist (11-2, 4-1).

HPU (7-7, 2-4) outscored Cal Baptist 34-24 in the second half.

» Bennie Murray scored 21 points and Lee Bailey added 16 as Chaminade beat Dominican 78-70 on Thursday in San Rafael, Calif., to remain unbeaten in PacWest play.

Rickey Clayborn added 12 points and Matt Cousins had 11 for Chaminade (7-5, 5-0).

Jacob Nolsat scored 16 points for Dominican (3-14, 2-4).

» Jerome Garrison scored 16 points, and Braylon Pickrel had 13 points and 10 rebounds as Grand Canyon beat Hawaii-Hilo 77-64 on Thursday in Phoenix.

Mychael Hearn scored 17 points, Zachary Wilde had 15 points and 11 rebounds, and Paul Batausa contributed 12 points for Hawaii-Hilo (7-7, 1-5). CJ Brown had eight assists.

Grand Canyon (9-5, 3-3) outrebounded Hawaii-Hilo 53-36.

» Tyler Fricke scored 14 points, Wesley White added 13 and Arron Mollet had 11 as Notre Dame de Namur beat Brigham Young-Hawaii 71-70 on Thursday in Belmont, Calif.

Mollet made two free throws with 1:20 remaining to put Notre Dame de Namur (6-9, 2-5) up 71-70.

Jet Chang scored 26 points and Bracken Funk added 13 for Brigham Young-Hawaii (7-7, 4-1).

Washington nets 39 in BYUH women’s win

Shayla Washington scored 39 points and Danna Lyn Hooper added 20 as Brigham Young-Hawaii beat Notre Dame de Namur 70-67 in Belmont, Calif., for its first victory in Pacific West Conference play.

Washington finished 14-for-21 from the field and 11-for-18 from the line. She also grabbed 11 rebounds. Hooper hit four 3-pointers for BYU-Hawaii (2-11, 1-4).

Pilar Mullins and Lindsay Foster each scored 16 points for Notre Dame de Namur (3-12, 1-6).

» Mana Hopkins scored 20 points as Hawaii Pacific ended California Baptist’s 12-game winning streak with a 77-69 victory Thursday in Riverside, Calif.

Paris Gravely added 15 points and Taiyande Huskey had 13 for HPU (10-6, 4-2).

Brittney Lewis scored 24 points for Cal Baptist (12-2, 5-1).

» Kayla Valentine scored 21 points as Dominican beat Chaminade 58-53 on Thursday in San Rafael, Calif., for its first victory in PacWest play.
