True coffee awareness
If you can’t get enough of coffee, learn to grow, harvest and roast your own at a workshop from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Lyon Arboretum.
Participants will take a short hike to see some of the arboretum’s coffee varieties and learn about the process of planting, harvesting berries and roasting beans. The day will end with a coffee tasting that includes the arboretum’s own specialty coffee.
The arboretum is at 3860 Manoa Road. Cost is $20. Registration required; call 988-0456.
Basics of going vegetarian
For those curious about vegetarian cuisine or the meat-free lifestyle:
» Set yourself up for a week of meals with whole grains, vegetarian entrees and dressings in a workshop presented by Malama Learning Center Saturday.
Cooks from Down to Earth will share tips from 10 a.m. to noon at Kapolei High School. Cost is $10, $25 for a family of three. Registration required; call 542-9107 or email Janice@malamalearningcenter.org.
