Chaminade women win first of season
@Body text1:Jordan Ahakuelo scored 21 points and Rhani Kaneaiakala had 11 points and 11 rebounds as the Chaminade women’s basketball team won its first game of the season with a 68-59 victory over Brigham Young-Hawaii on Wednesday at McCabe Gym.
The win was the Silverswords’ first in 17 games, and their first in 11 Pacific West Conference games.
Shayla Washington had 18 points and Taylor Mann 19 rebounds for BYUH, 3-16 and 2-9.
» In the men’s game at McCabe Gym on Wednesday, Hawaii Pacific topped Chaminade 81-63.
Bracken Funk led the Sea Warriors with 16 points. Matt Cousins had 18 points for the Silverswords.
BYU-Hawaii beats HPU in men’s golf
Remington Schultz shot a 72 and Scott Pickering a 73 on Wednesday to lead Brigham Young-Hawaii’s men’s golf team to victory over Hawaii Pacific at the Ewa Beach Golf Club.
BYUH had a team total of 299 to 310 for HPU. Travis Miller’s 76 led HPU.
Hawaii tops Loyola Marymount in tennis
The Hawaii women’s tennis team defeated Loyola Marymount 4-3 in tennis on Wednesday in Los Angeles.
Barbara Pinterova, Jamie Pawid, and Aglae Van den Bergh all won in singles and doubles for the Rainbow Wahine.
