Michelle Wie watched her steady round turn sour on the back nine today during the third round of the Honda LPGA Thailand at Siam Country Club in Chonburi.
Wie shot a 1-over 73, falling into a tie for 37th place, 14 strokes behind the leader, Ai Miyazato of Japan, who was 7 under for the day and 14 under for the tournament through 15 holes of the third round.
Karrie Webb of Australia was second, a stroke back through 13 holes, and defending champion Yani Tseng of Taiwan was third, another stroke back through 15 holes.
Wie, a Punahou alumna, began her round with a string of six pars before carding a birdie on No. 7. She ran off five more pars before running into a little trouble, bogeying No. 13.
She got that stroke back at 15 with another par, but bogeyed 16 and 17 before salvaging a par at 18.
Miyazato made the turn today at 2 under for her round, getting birdies at Nos. 1, 5 and 8 and a bogey at No. 3.
She sizzled on the back nine, carding birdies on five of her first six holes to take the lead.
