UHH dumps Dominican in women’s hoops
Hillary Hurley scored 21 points to lead Hawaii-Hilo to a 76-55 victory over Dominican in women’s basketball Saturday night in Hilo.
Hurley and Elise Spain each pulled down seven rebounds for the Vulcans (10-11, 7-6 Pacific West Conference).
Kayla Valentine led the Penguins (4-21, 3-12) with 16 points.
Dominican trips Hawaii-Hilo men
Mark Lewis scored 17 points to lead Dominican to a 66-61 win over UHH in men’s basketball in Hilo.
Xander McNalley pulled down nine rebounds for the Penguins (8-17, 7-7 PacWest).
Zachary Wilde had 21 points and 15 rebounds for the Vulcans (8-12, 2-10).
Hawaii Pacific sweeps BYUH in softball
Chante Tesoro hit a two-run homer and a two-run double to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 6-1 win over Brigham Young-Hawaii to start a sweep of Brigham Young-Hawaii in a softball doubleheader on Saturday at Howard A. Okita Field.
Breanne Patton pitched a two-hitter for the Sea Warriors in the opener.
In the second game, Erin Fujita had two hits as HPU beat BYUH 5-3. Melissa Kirby went the distance on the mound, giving up nine hits for the Sea Warriors (6-0, 2-0 Pacific West Conference).
Ashley Hansen had two hits in the second game for the Seasiders (3-3, 0-2).
HPU takes 2 from Pacific in baseball
Blake Amaral and Troy Ajer had two hits each to lead Hawaii Pacific to a 5-1 win and a doubleheader sweep of Pacific University (Oregon) at Hans L’Orange Park on Saturday.
Michael Murray pitched a two-hitter for the Sea Warriors.
In the first game, Rylan Morihara went 3-for-5 to pace HPU (6-0) in a 7-4 win.
Greg Tellez went 3-for-5 for the Boxers (1-4) in the second game.
