Waikiki Parc Hotel hosts wine mixers
Waikiki Parc Hotel has announced its 2012 schedule of holiday-themed wine mixers, which are complimentary events for registered in-room guests.
The Parc Chic Wine Mixers are held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Fridays (except where indicated) at Parc Blue, the hotel’s rooftop pool. The schedule:
» May Day: May 4, “Hu-la-la Parc Winemixer,” kalua pig sliders and Haupia Surprise with rum punch.
» Independence Day: July 4 (Wednesday), “Red, White and Blue,” hot dog rolls, cheese and fruit platter with red or white wine coolers.

$50 rooms mark Pagoda anniversary
Pagoda Hotel is celebrating its 50th year of hospitality with a $50 room rate available to Dec. 31.
Pagoda’s 50th Anniversary Special offers guest rooms at $50 for the first night, with remaining nights at the best available rate. A minimum two nights must be booked.
Pagoda Hotel comprises the 12-story Pagoda Tower and the five-story Pagoda Terrace. The terrace was built 50 years ago in 1962, followed by the tower in 1964.

Volunteers sought for whale count
The Pacific Whale Foundation is seeking volunteer whale counters for the Great Whale Count to be held from 8 a.m. to noon Feb. 25 on Maui.
The Great Whale Count gathers data about whales that can be seen within three miles of 10 shoreline observation points.
The foundation will provide the training and data recording forms. Counters should bring a pair of binoculars, a lawn chair, hat, sunglasses and drinking water.
