High surf and wind advisories from the National Weather Service are in effect today.
The National Weather Service issued a high-surf advisory through 7 p.m. Wednesday. Strong tradewinds are bringing in rough surf to east-facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and Hawaii island.
Surf is predicted to build to 8 to 10 feet today, then diminish to 6 to 8 feet Wednesday.
Strong, gusty winds capable of bringing down tree branches and making driving difficult are expected to continue through 6 p.m. today on the upper slopes and summit of Haleakala.
The weather service forecasts 30 to 35 mph winds, with gusts up to 50 mph at Haleakala.
