Hawaii moves up in softball poll
Following a bye week, the University of Hawaii softball team moved up three places to No. 22 in the latest USA Today/NFCA Division I poll.
The Rainbow Wahine (12-0) are among eight undefeated teams in the current NFCA Top 25 and will take the ranking into this weekend’s Bank of Hawaii Invitational. The tournament runs Friday to Sunday at Rainbow Wahine Softball Stadium, with UH hosting Radford, UC Santa Barbara and No. 20 Florida State. The Seminoles made their debut in the NFCA poll this week after sweeping five games in the Citrus Classic to improve to 15-0.
Alabama (13-0) moved into the top spot in the coaches poll, followed by California (12-0). The ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 will be released today.
Hawaii-Hilo in a tie for fifth place
The Hawaii-Hilo women’s golf team is in a tie for fifth place in the St. Edward’s Invitational in Austin, Texas, after Monday’s first round.
The Vulcans are at 325, 25 strokes behind first-place Tarleton State. Individually, UHH’s Dayna Bersamin is at 6-over 77 and tied for sixth, five strokes behind first-place Sharon Lau of Tarleton State.
