Officers seek driver who caused collision
Police are looking for a man who caused a three-car accident Saturday night while fleeing authorities in a stolen van.
Officers attempted to stop the 2001 Dodge Caravan after identifying it as a stolen vehicle, police said. However, the van continued Ewa down Lunalilo Street, ran a red light at the intersection of Lunalilo and Ward Avenue and collided with a 2008 Ford pickup truck driven by a 49-year-old man.
The impact sent the truck, which was headed north on Ward, into an oncoming 2011 Honda SUV driven by a 53-year-old man.
The driver of the van fled the scene on foot.
Neither of the other two drivers was hurt. However, a 39-year-old woman riding in the Honda was injured. She was taken to a hospital in good condition.
Anyone with information on the whereabouts of the driver of the van is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
Car crashes through fence, ends up on H-1
A 52-year-old driver involved in a two-car collision on School Street crashed her vehicle through a chain-link fence, with the car ending up on the Ewa-bound lanes of the H-1 freeway Sunday morning.
The driver had no life-threatening injuries but firefighters stabilized her for possible neck and back injuries, Fire Capt. Rick Karasaki said. "She avoided a big one," Karasaki said.
Paramedics were called at 10:04 a.m. and took the woman to a hospital in stable condition, emergency services officials said. The driver of the other car declined treatment, Karasaki said.
Officers hurt in arrest of assault suspect
Police officers were injured early Sunday morning while trying to detain a 31-year-old man who had allegedly assaulted another man in Kakaako.
Officers found the suspect after the 2:35 a.m. incident and arrested him for investigation of second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, second-degree assault and third-degree assault.
Police listed the victims as all males — ages 40, 35 and 28 — but did not say which of the men were officers or who was the victim of the suspect’s assault.
