Haleakala park internships are available
Hawaii high school students are invited to apply for a three-week summer internship at Haleakala National Park.
The Pohai Maile Internship Program, June 11-29, will introduce local youth to park programs and generate interest in careers related to natural resources management, interpretation and facilities management, the park service said.
Interns are eligible for a living allowance of $25 per day. Applicants must be Hawaii residents and currently enrolled in grades 9 to 12.
The application packet is available by contacting internship coordinator Kuhea Paracuelles at 572-4452 or Kuhea_Paracuelles@nps.gov. Applications must be postmarked by March 30.
Twelve students will be selected through a process that includes a formal application and interview. More information is at volunteer.gov.
