Man arrested after cab theft, collision
Officers arrested a 36-year-old man after a foot chase Tuesday when he crashed a stolen cab on Kamehameha Highway as police tried to get him to stop.
Police said the man was riding in a cab Tuesday afternoon when he decided to take it. When police tried to pull over the cab, it collided with another car, injuring the driver. The suspect then fled on foot. Officers caught him at Halawa Drive and Kamehameha Highway at 3:15 p.m. near the front gate to the Pacific Fleet headquarters. After the arrest, officers found illegal drugs, police said. They arrested the man for investigation of auto theft, resisting arrest, fleeing the scene of an accident, failure to render aid, driving without a license, refusing to stop and third-degree promoting dangerous drugs.
