Hawaii softball game postponed
The University of Hawaii softball team’s game against Radford scheduled for Thursday was postponed due to wet field conditions.
The game between the 19th-ranked Rainbow Wahine (17-0) and the Highlanders has been rescheduled for Saturday at 6 p.m.
Rain washed out Tuesday’s game with Florida State and Thursday’s postponement pushed back the start of the Pepsi Malihini Kipa Aloha Tournament. UH will now play doubleheaders today and Saturday, weather permitting.
BYUH sweeps Dominican in softball
Gabrielle Hawkins pitched a two-hitter and Tiffanee Frampton had two hits and drove in two runs to lead Brigham Young-Hawaii to an 8-1 win in the first game of a softball doubleheader sweep of Dominican (Calif.) on Thursday at Central Oahu Regional Park.
Lindsay Robison homered and drove in four runs and Ashley Hansen also hit a home run for the Seasiders (5-5, 2-4 Pacific West Conference) in a 9-1 win in the second game.
Frampton pitched a five-inning four-hitter for BYUH.
The Penguins are 2-15 and 0-4.
Chaminade women sweep Notre Dame de Namur
Kaitlyn Watanabe allowed two unearned runs over seven innings and Aja Keyes tripled in three runs in the first inning as Chaminade beat Notre Dame de Namur 4-2 on Thursday to sweep a Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader at Central Oahu Regional Park.
In the first game, Letisha Vaba drove in two runs as the Silverswords (5-5, 4-0) beat the Argonauts 5-4.
Notre Dame de Namur is 12-8 and 2-3.
Ota leads by 2 at Pearl Country Club
Jonathan Ota shot a 3-under-par 69 and leads by two strokes after Thursday’s first round of the Hawaii State Amateur and Senior Amateur Stroke-Play Championship at Pearl Country Club.
Lorens Chan is at 1 under and John Oda is third at even par.
In the senior division, Carl Ho leads by one stroke after shooting a 3-over 75.
