Pool players to nationals
Six Honolulu residents qualified for the upcoming American Poolplayers Association national tournaments through Hawaii regionals earlier this month.
Steven Weakly, Kenneth Hicks and Terri Taira advanced to the 8-Ball Classic, while Steve Van Ness, Ron Omoto, and Sophina Placencia will compete at the 9-Ball Shootout. Grace Castillo and Lyle Chan qualified for the Jack & Jill Championship.
The national amateur tournaments are next month in Las Vegas.

Sand drags open racing season
The first night event of the Kalaeloa Raceway Park racing season is Saturday.
Registration for the sand drags is from noon to 1 p.m. Gates open at 1 p.m., with racing at 6 p.m.

Ford Island 10K deadline nears
Monday is the early registration deadline to enter the 15th Ford Island Bridge Run, a 10K event that crosses the Adm. Clarey Bridge to Ford Island and back.
The fees are $20 for military and their family members, and $25 for non-military. Late registration of $30 will be accepted through April 6.

World champ offers extreme cowboy clinics
Cam Schryver, two-time Extreme Cowboy Association world champion, is holding clinics and private lessons in conjunction with the Extreme Cowboy Race March 24 at Gunstock Ranch.
Half-day group clinics and 1-hour private lessons are available for $50 each March 21, 22, 23 and 25. Sessions are available in Haleiwa, Kahuku and Waimanalo.
