McDonald’s robber dons motorcycle helmet
Police are searching for a man who robbed a McDonald’s restaurant at gunpoint Saturday morning in Mililani.
Police said the man wearing a motorcycle helmet walked into the restaurant at 95-281 Kipapa Drive about 4:30 a.m., took out a semi-automatic handgun, and demanded money from the cashier and manager. He fled with cash.
Police said the man was about 5 feet 5 inches tall, possibly in his 20s, with a medium build.
He was wearing a long-sleeved green shirt with padded shoulders, brown shorts, and a black, red and white helmet with a shaded visor.
Police said another incident was reported in Kunia about an hour later, involving a man who matched the description of the Mililani robber. He was seen leaving on a dirt bike.
Shortly afterward, an officer saw a man matching the description on Kunia Road at Wilikina Drive, but lost him at Lakeview Circle.
Officers focus on burglaries after fatal fire
Police and CrimeStoppers are seeking the public’s assistance in locating two men caught on video stealing exotic fish from a Pearl City residence.
The burglaries occurred on the same street as a fire that killed a 97-year-old woman on Friday. In that case, police are investigating whether burglars using a blowtorch to open a lock might have triggered the fire.
That house had been burglarized several times, according to one of the survivors.
The second house on Hoomalolo Street was initially burglarized in September 2011. The male suspect in that incident was caught on video.
On March 8, surveillance video caught a second man also stealing fish at the same house.
Police said the suspects were aware of the video camera and attempted to cover their faces.
