Patacchia moves on at Bells Beach
Hawaii’s Fred Patacchia placed third out of three surfers in his first-round heat today at the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach in Australia.
Despite the third-place finish, Patacchia moved on to the second round of the Association of Surfing Professionals World Tour contest.
John John Florence, who is also from Hawaii, is scheduled to surf in his first-round heat when the contest resumes Wednesday, conditions permitting.
Hernandez to Columbia and Pauli to Idaho
Punahou state wrestling champion and standout linebacker Zachary Hernandez is on his way to Columbia this fall. The senior had an unbeaten season in the 189-pound weight class, pinning nearly every foe in nearly 30 matches.
‘Iolani senior Duke Pauli will attend Idaho next season.
Pauli made his decision last week and plans to walk on for basketball, football or both. He was an All-State Fab 15 selection in basketball. The 6-foot-3 athlete did not play football for the Raiders.
