Collins third at racquetball nationals
Hawaii’s Robbie Collins finished third at last week’s National Intercollegiate Racquetball Championships hosted by Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
Collins, a University of Hawaii student and member of Team Ektelon 808 from Kapolei, was seeded 22nd. He lost his quarterfinal match to sixth-seeded Jose Diaz, then advanced through the consolation bracket en route to defeating Spencer Smud of the University of Florida 15-6, 15-11 for a bronze medal.
Canoe rides at April 14 festival
Canoe rides offered by the Hawaiian Sailing Canoe Association and tours of the voyaging canoe Hokule‘a highlight the third Kualoa/Hakipu‘u Canoe Festival, April 14 at Kualoa Regional Park.
The free event also offers interactive demonstrations of canoe repair, paddle making and knot tying, and hands-on activities through Hakipu‘u Learning Center and Halau Ku Mana. Polynesian Voyaging Society members also will be in attendance to share their experiences. The festival runs from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
