UHH splits with Hawaii Pacific in baseball
Pinch hitter Steven Riddle singled home pinch runner Jordan Murai in the bottom of the seventh and final inning as Hawaii-Hilo (10-30, 7-24) beat Hawaii Pacific 4-3 on Saturday for a split of a Pacific West Conference baseball doubleheader at Wong Stadium in Hilo.
In the opener, HPU (20-13, 12-11) won 2-1 as John Albert and junior Edward Trovato combined on a five-hitter.
Chaminade and BYUH split in softball
Tiffanee Frampton pitched a seven-hitter and went 2-for-3 with a double, homer and four RBIs as Brigham Young-Hawaii beat Chaminade 7-0 on Saturday to earn a split of a Pacific West Conference softball doubleheader at Central Oahu Regional Park.
In the second game, the Silverswords (14-21, 8-14) scored three runs in the first inning en route to a 5-3 victory over the Seasiders (11-14, 6-13).
