Paula Creamer’s name can generate a crowd. This being Hawaii, however, the petite presence of LPGA rookie Stephanie Kono and 13-year-old sensation Mariel Galdiano also is having an impact on attendance at Monday’s Ladies First clinic at Ko Olina Golf Club.

LADIES FIRST CLINIC » 4:30 p.m. Monday with Paula Creamer, Stephanie Kono and Mariel Galdiano
PRO-AM » 6:50 a.m. on Tuesday |
The free clinic for women (and men, too) precedes the inaugural LPGA Lotte Championship, which begins Wednesday. The top 25 on the LPGA money list will be here, including top-ranked Yani Tseng, Ai Miyazato, Angela Stanford, Karrie Webb and Se Ri Pak. Kono is one of three Hawaii players, along with Ayaka Kaneko and Michelle Wie.
More than 250 people have signed up for the clinic since it was announced Friday.
Registration is at koolinagolf.com/ladies. There is also walk-up registration starting at 3 p.m. Monday at the practice range. The clinic begins at 4:30 p.m.
Creamer, the 2010 U.S. Women’s Open champion, won the last LPGA event at Ko Olina when she captured the 2008 Fields Open in Hawaii, birdieing the last three holes to beat Jeong Jang by a shot.
Creamer is leading the clinic, with assistance from Kono and Galdiano. It is designed for golfers of any age and those just interested in giving the game a shot. The focus will be on fun and inspiration, followed by tips and technique. There will also be prizes, information about the Get Golf Ready group lesson program and free tournament tickets and Roy’s chocolate souffles.
Kono, a 2008 Punahou graduate, was a three-time All-American at UCLA before qualifying for the tour in December. Galdiano, an eighth-grader at Maryknoll, was the youngest player at last year’s U.S. Women’s Open.
Qualifying for the Lotte tournament tees off Sunday at 11 a.m., with Hawaii’s Kimberly Kim, Brittany Fan and Shayna Miyajima, and Hye-Min Kim playing for two spots in the 144-player field.
