» Northwestern senior Paul Snieder (Punahou ’08) homered and scored twice to help the Wildcats take two of three against Michigan over the weekend.
» Nevada first baseman Kewby Meyer (Kamehameha ’11) hit the first home run of his collegiate career, finishing 2-for-4 with two RBIs in a 9-1 victory over Sacramento State on Sunday to avoid a three-game sweep.
» Cornell senior Jeeter Ishida (Punahou ’08) started the first game of his collegiate career, working three scoreless innings with one hit, two walks and a strikeout in a 5-4 loss to Siena (N.Y.) last Tuesday.

» San Diego senior Alex Ching (Punahou ’08) was named the West Coast Conference player of the year on Friday for the second straight season. Ching finished second at the WCC championships last week and averaged a score of 70.52 in 12 tournaments this season, winning three.
» Oregon State sophomore David Fink (‘Iolani ’09) shot a 6-over 78 on Sunday and finished in a tie for 44th place at 19 over at the Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas.
» Claremont-Mudd-Scripps sophomore Brad Shigezawa (Punahou ’10) shot rounds of 68 and 73 to finish 3 under, losing in a playoff to take second at the Southern California Interscholastic Athletic Conference championships on Monday in Hemet, Calif. La Verne freshman Andre Bedard (Maui ’11) finished in a tie for 11th place at 5 over.
WOMEN’S GOLF
» Pepperdine’s Alina Ching (Punahou ’11) was named the West Coast Conference freshman of the year on Thursday, a day after finishing in a tie for sixth at the WCC championships. She’s second on the Waves with a 74.87 scoring average and finished in the top six in four of five tournaments in the spring. San Francisco freshman Michelle Condry (Punahou ’11) was also named to the all-conference team.
» Boise State junior Hayley Young (Mid-Pacific ’09) sandwiched a round of 76 between two 75s to finish in eighth place at 10 over at the Mountain West Conference championships that ended Sunday in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
» Claremont-Mudd-Scripps freshman Marissa Suehiro (Punahou ’11) shot 17 over to finish in sole possession of second place in the 36-hole Southern California Interscholastic Athletic Conference championships on Monday in Hemet, Calif.

» Loyola Marymount senior Kylie Ahlo (‘Iolani ’08) went 6-for-11 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI to help the Lions win three of four against San Diego over the weekend.
» East Carolina sophomore second baseman Kristi Oshiro (Mililani ’10) went 3-for-7 with a run, two RBIs and a stolen base in a doubleheader sweep of Longwood (Fla.) last Wednesday. Catcher Rebecca Lee (Mililani ’10) singled and shortstop Chelsea Kaluhiokalani-Glackin (St. Francis ’10) walked, stole a base and scored a run for the Pirates, while Kori Nishitomi (Maryknoll ’11) had a hit for the Lancers.
» Pacific Lutheran second baseman Glanelle Nitta (Mililani ’09) singled and scored a run, and shortstop Lindsey Matsunaga (Kaimuki ’10) went 1-for-3 in a 3-0 win over Linfield (Ore.) to win the Northwest Conference championship and secure an automatic berth into the NCAA Division III tournament.
» Bloomfield (N.J.) College junior Alexandria Smith (Leilehua ’09) and sophomore Angie Yoshizu (University ’10) were named first-team All-Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference on Saturday. Smith hit .378 with a school-record 50 runs scored, 13 doubles, eight home runs and 27 RBIs and also appeared in 22 games on the mound, compiling an 8-8 record with a 2.35 ERA in 1131⁄3 innings pitched with 39 walks and 106 strikeouts. Yoshizu hit a team-best .388 with 62 hits, 11 doubles, two homers and 24 RBIs.
» Columbia (N.Y.) University freshman Kayla Shimoda (Punahou ’11) finished 5-for-11 with two doubles, two runs and an RBI in a four-game split against Princeton over the weekend.

» Willamette (Ore.) junior Josh Wong (Hilo ’09) was named to the All-Northwest Conference first team on Friday. Whitman (Wash.) freshman James Rivers (Pacific Buddhist Academy ’11) was named to the second team.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
» Linfield (Ore.) senior Kiana Nip (Lahainaluna ’08) was named the Northwest Conference sportswoman of the year on Friday. Nip posted a perfect 12-0 regular-season record in both singles and doubles action, competing at No. 5 singles and teaming with sister Kiana Nip (Lahainaluna ’11) at No. 2 doubles. The Nip sisters suffered their first loss to a Northwest Conference opponent this year, losing to Whitman (Wash.) in the final of the NWC tournament.

» Pacific (Ore.) sophomore Kelson Kawai (Kohala ’10) finished third in the triple jump (13.49 meters) and fifth in the high jump (1.83) at the Northwest Conference championships over the weekend. Boxers freshman Trey Oshiro-Atabay (Mid-Pacific ’11) finished fifth in the long jump (6.40), freshman Sean Valente (Saint Louis ’11) came in sixth in the 400-meter dash (50.80 seconds) and Daniel Wagner (Mid-Pacific ’11) placed seventh in the 110-meter hurdles (16.24). Puget Sound freshman Justin Higa (‘Iolani ’11) finished eighth in the 10,000-meter run (33:22.83).
» Charleston Southern freshman Richard Landford (Mililani ’11) threw a personal-best 46 feet, 9 inches to place ninth in the shot put at the Big South championships on Friday, breaking the school’s freshman outdoor record.
» Cal State Stanislaus senior Dawson Vorderbruegge (Kaiser ’08) won his heat in the men’s 1500-meter run, finishing in 3:50.83 at the Mount Sac Relays on Thursday.

» Pacific (Ore.) senior Nicole Smith (Kamehameha-Maui ’08) placed third in the long jump (5.18), seventh in the heptathlon (3,673 points) and eighth in the javelin throw (31.93) at the NWC championships over the weekend. Senior Jenna Matsumoto (University ’08) placed fourth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.63) and seventh in the 100-meter hurdles (16.36), freshman Shawna Kinilau (Kamehameha ’10) was 15th in the triple jump (9.77 meters), and junior Nicole Brown (St. Anthony ’08) was 19th (9.75) in the same event. Willamette (Ore.) junior Amanda Tamanaha (St. Andrew’s Priory ’09) finished sixth in the 10,000-meter run (40:05.64) and 11th in the 5,000-meter run (20:11.23).
» Charleston Southern freshman Joshlyn Noga (Kahuku ’11) placed third in the shot put with a throw of 47 feet, missing out on the school record by an inch, at the Big South championships on Friday. Noga qualified for the USATF Junior Nationals, beating the qualifying mark of 46 feet by a foot.

» Stanford senior Brad Lawson (‘Iolani ’08), a first-team All-Mountain Pacific Sports Federation honoree, hit .514 with a match-high 22 kills and two blocks in his final home match to lead the Cardinal to a four-set victory over Pepperdine in the first round of the MPSF tournament on Saturday. Senior libero Erik Shoji (Punahou ’08), another All-MPSF first-teamer, added nine digs and two assists for the Cardinal, who play Brigham Young in the semifinals on Thursday. Josh Taylor (Punahou ’11), who was named to the All-MPSF freshman team, led the Waves with 16 kills, hitting .323 with six digs, two block assists and an ace.
» Brigham Young senior middle Futi Tavana (Kauai ’05), a first-team All-MPSF honoree, had three kills, 13 block assists, two solo blocks and two digs, and freshman libero Jaylen Reyes (Kamehameha ’11) had three digs in a five-set victory over Long Beach State in the quarterfinals of the MPSF tournament on Saturday. Sophomore Taylor Crabb (Punahou ’10), who was named to the All-MPSF second team, hit .308 with 12 kills, six digs and an ace and junior Trevor Crabb (Punahou ’09) had a kill in two swings for the 49ers.
» Southern California freshman setter Micah Christenson (Kamehameha ’11), the MPSF freshman of the year, had a match-high 30 assists, three kills, three digs and three block assists in a three-game sweep of Cal State Northridge in the first round of the league playoffs on Saturday. Junior outside Maddison McKibbin (Punahou ’09) had six kills, seven digs and two block assists and Henry Cassiday (Punahou ’10), who was named honorable mention All-MPSF, had seven digs for the Trojans. Senior setter Danny Rodrick (Kapaa ’07) had 10 assists, three digs and an ace for the Matadors.
» Baruch (N.Y.) College freshman setter Danny Olson (Punahou ’11) had a match-high 29 assists, five digs, two kills, a block assist and an ace in a three-game sweep of Elms College in the inaugural NCAA Division III play-in game on Saturday. The Bearcats will play Springfield College on Friday.
