Free band concert to celebrate military
Celebrate National Military Appreciation Month and enjoy an evening of music at the 27th annual Combined Military Band Concert at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Hale Koa Luau Garden.
The free event is hosted by the Honolulu Council of the Navy League. Open seating starts at 6 p.m. Parking will be available in the Hale Koa garage.
This year the Army, conducted by Chief Warrant Officer 3 Lisa M. Guynn of the 25th Infantry Division Band, will take the lead. There will also be performances by the Navy Pacific Band, Marine Forces Pacific Band and Air Force Band of the Pacific.
Sponsors are SAIC, TriWest Healthcare Alliance and Cycle City.

Help Moiliili center at KCC fundraiser
Enjoy food prepared by Kapiolani Community College’s culinary students at a May 5 fundraiser for the Moiliili Community Center.
The event from 5:30 to 9 p.m. in KCC’s Ohia Building will also feature a silent auction and a sampling of classes available at the community center, such as belly-dancing, jazz and hip-hop dancing. Proceeds will support the center’s programs for children, families and seniors.
Tickets are $125 per person; “gold tables” for 10 are $2,000. Call 955-1555.
