4 Rachel Paragas
Outfield. West Covina, Calif. (St. John’s)
Past: Transferred from St. John’s in 2010 and hit a three-run homer in her only at-bat that season.
Present: One of UH’s first pinch runners off the bench, she’s appeared in 23 games and scored 10 runs.
Future: On track to graduate in the spring of 2013 with a double major in biology and American studies.
On transferring to UH: "I decided to come here because my mom is from Molokai. … I felt like I have a connection with Hawaii. I felt since she grew up here I should grow up here and grow into the person I want to be."
8 Dara Pagaduan
Second base. Kapolei (Kamehameha)
Past: Hit .247 while starting 37 games as a freshman. Saw sporadic playing time the next two years.
Present: Solidified the middle infield defensively while starting all 42 games at second base. Hitting .257 with eight doubles and 16 RBIs.
Future: Graduates in May as a double major in Hawaiian and psychology and plans to pursue nursing.
On team chemistry: "It’s a really fun team, very dynamic. Practices are always fun even when they’re rough."
9 Sarah Robinson
Third base. Honolulu (Moanalua)
Past: Played in 15 games her first two years. Started 39 games in 2011 while sharing time at first base and hit .248.
Present: Established a home at third base and in the third spot in the batting order. One of the team’s most consistent hitters at .341 with seven home runs.
Future: On track to graduate in the spring of 2013 with a degree in accounting.
On settling in at third: "I didn’t know where I was going to be and the first day I went into (Bob Coolen’s) office he put me at third. So I worked hard in the fall to get comfortable and build my confidence and now I like being there. I finally found what I came here to do."
10 Stephanie Ricketts
Pitcher. San Jose, Calif. (Archbishop Mitty)
Past: Named WAC freshman of the year in 2009 and WAC pitcher of the year the next two seasons by going 74-32.
Present: Enters the week at 23-3, second in the nation with a 0.97 ERA and is tied for 10th with nine shutouts. Broke or tied six UH career records, including appearances, starts, wins, strikeouts, shutouts and innings pitched.
Future: Graduates in May with a degree in psychology and has been accepted to the UH school of nursing. Was also selected by the Chicago Bandits in the National Pro Fastpitch draft.
On pitching at RWSS: "I feel like I can remember every single game I’ve pitched on this field. I don’t even know what my favorite memory is, there’s too many. I’ve got a hundred going through my mind right now."
14 Alex Aguirre
Left field. Temple City, Calif. (Temple City)
Past: Moved into the starting lineup early in her sophomore season and hit two home runs in the Women’s College World Series in 2010.
Present: Hitting .269 and ranks second on the team in on-base percentage (.438).
Future: Graduated with a degree in English last summer and is working on her post-baccalaureate in secondary education with a minor in peace and conflict studies.
On representing UH: "It’s that feeling where you have that pride in who you play for. That was something I really wanted and got out of it."
23 Jocelyn Enrique
Catcher. Anahola (Kapaa)
Past: Redshirted in 2009. Appeared in 15 games the next two years with four starts last year at designated player.
Present: One of the team’s top bats off the bench. Hit her first home run in the late innings against Utah on April 3.
Future: Will finish her college career at Maranatha Bible College in Wisconsin. She has a year of eligibility left and is pursuing degrees in elementary education and special education.
On her earliest UH memory: "It was only in preseason, but I got my first hit (as a freshman) and just being on base and wearing the jersey for the first time was awesome."
25 Makani Duhaylonsod-Kaleimamahu
First base. Mililani (Mililani)
Past: Was headed to a junior college, but chose to walk on at UH. Hit .298 and was named second-team All-WAC as a freshman.
Present: Provided solid defense in 40 starts at first base and broke out of a midseason slump by hitting .875 with two home runs in a series against Louisiana Tech.
Future: On track to graduate with a degree in Hawaiian studies in December.
On playing with confidence: "I was a little timid and not sure of myself. … (Coolen) tells us don’t think you’re going to do something, go in there saying, ‘I’m going to get a hit, I’m going to bring in runs.’ That’s been my mentality."
26 Shannon Lum
First base. Kaneohe (Southern Utah/St. Francis)
Past: Attended Southern Utah for three years, starting 55 games with six home runs as a freshman in 2007. Transferred to UH in 2011.
Present: Offers power potential as a left-handed bat off the bench. Has 10 pinch hitting appearances this season and drove in a run against Portland State.
Future: On track to graduate with a degree in Travel Industry Management in December.
On joining the team: "Growing up I played against Sarah and Makani, so we all knew each other. I was kind of intimidated after the World Series season, but I just came right in and it was fine."
