Nominations open for Vulcan HOF

Hawaii-Hilo is accepting nominations for its 16th Vulcan Athletics Hall of Fame class through Thursday.

Categories are athlete, coach, administrator and communication member.

Silverswords sign 5 players

Chaminade volleyball coach Kahala Kabalis has signed five players for the upcoming season.

Signing with the Silverswords are: middle blockers Regina Johnson and Lexis Evans from Arizona; setter Daniella Montoya of New Mexico; hitter Kim Spring from Switzerland; and hitter-defensive specialist Matia Spencer from Florida.

Vulcans announce 4 signings

Hawaii-Hilo softball coach Jaime Wallin has signed four players, including two infielders, for next season.

Signing with the Vulcans are infielders Kaylie Drew of California and Brittany Huff of Nevada; pitcher Hannah Peterson from California; and outfielder Brandi Wilson from California.

SOCCER

HPU holding camp in June

Hawaii Pacific’s Summer Sea Warriors Soccer Camp is scheduled for June 4-9 at Atherton Field on HPU’s windward campus.

The camp is open to boys and girls, ages 6 through 12. The cost is $75.

Campers will be divided into groups by age and skill level. Team camps are also available this summer by request.

GOLF

Chaminade golf tourney coming up

Entries are open for the annual Albert Akana Burns Endowment Scholarship Golf Tournament set for June 22 at Royal Hawaiian Golf Club.

Cost for the three-person modified scramble is $150 per person or $400 per team. Check-in is 9:30 a.m., with an 11 a.m. shotgun start.

Included are green fees, cart, lunch and dinner buffet. The tournament is limited to 144.

BASEBALL

25th Vulcans camp scheduled

Hawaii-Hilo coach Joey Estrella is the lead instructor for the 25th Vulcans-Hawaii Baseball School scheduled for May 29 through June 1 at the UHH baseball and softball fields.

The school is open for players ages 5 through 12 for $90.

Applications are available at the UHH athletic office or by calling 974-7700. Entry deadline is May 25.
