Mo-ped operator injured in Hauula crash
An 18-year-old Hauula man was in critical condition Tuesday at the Queen’s Medical Center after a mo-ped accident late Monday night in Hauula.
Police said the man was driving a mo-ped toward Kahuku on Kamehameha Highway when he collided with a car, also going north, at about 11:30 p.m. near Kawaipuna Street. The 60-year-old Laie woman driving the car was uninjured.
Paramedics took the man in critical condition to the Queen’s Medical Center. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Police shut down Kamehameha Highway from about 2:30 to 3:30 a.m. as they investigated the crash. Traffic was rerouted to Kaipapau Loop.
Jaywalker caught with officer’s bicycle
A Wahiawa man stopped by police for jaywalking Monday morning in Waikiki was arrested for allegedly stealing a Honolulu Police Department bicycle.
Police said an HPD officer parked his bicycle in the lobby of an Ala Moana Boulevard building and went inside. When he returned at about 10 a.m. Monday, the bike was gone, police said. Another officer located the suspect, 28, jaywalking nearby with the bicycle at Ala Moana Boulevard and Holomoana Street a short time later and arrested him.
Help sought in ID’ing body found on Kauai
Kauai police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the body of a man found Sunday near Queen’s Bath in Princeville.
Preliminary results of the autopsy show the man died from multiple injuries consistent with a fall, including blunt head trauma. There is no sign of foul play, police said.
Police said the man was younger than 30. He was 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed roughly 190 pounds. He had dark brown or black hair. He was wearing black-and-white floral surf shorts. He had no tattoos or other distinguishing marks.
There was no identification on the body or near the area where it was found. Police said the body does not match the description of anyone reported as missing.
Authorities believe the man had been dead for at least a day when his body was found.

Man killed falling out of tree is identified
The Medical Examiner’s Office has identified a 77-year-old Waipahu man who was killed Sunday when he fell from a tree while picking fruit.
Diony Aguinaldo’s death was caused by multiple blunt force injuries, the Medical Examiner’s Office said. No other details of the fall were available.
