Kaiser Permanente has reached a tentative contract agreement with a coalition of unions covering nearly 100,000 workers in Hawaii and eight other states, as well as Washington, D.C.
The pact covers nearly 1,000 registered nurses in the isles, as well as workers in various job classifications in California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Ohio, Maryland, Virginia, Georgia and the District of Columbia. If ratified during voting by the 28 local unions this summer, the contract will take effect Oct. 1. The contract calls for 3 percent wage increases in each year of the agreement for California employees, and 2 percent each year for workers in regions outside California.
