Man wanted in Chinatown bank robbery

Police are looking for a man who robbed the Chinatown branch of First Hawaiian Bank just before noon Monday while wearing a purple baseball cap emblazoned with the words "Crown Royal."

The man entered the bank at 2 N. King St. at about 11:40 a.m., gave a demand note to a teller and fled, police said. No weapon was seen. Police did not say whether money was taken.

The suspect is described as in his 40s or 50s, about 5 feet 3 inches tall, weighing 140-160 pounds, with short black hair and a dark complexion. He was wearing a blue-and-white aloha shirt, dark long pants, sunglasses and the cap.

Trio arrested in cockfight investigation

Honolulu police arrested and cited three people during a raid on an alleged cockfighting operation Saturday morning on Hakimo Road in Nana­kuli.

Police arrest records show that 41-year-old Alexander Agustin of Maili was released on $2,000 bail after being cited for cruelty to animals and possession of a gaff. Christopher Iba­nez, 32, of Wai­anae was also cited for cruelty to animals and possession of a gaff and released on $1,000 bail. Philip Nazareth Jr., 38, of Wahiawa was cited and released on $1,000 bail for possession of a gaff.

Police arrested all three at about 10:30 a.m. Saturday at 87-1029 Hakimo Road.

The site has been the scene of previous cockfight arrests dating from at least 2009.

Woman and dog airlifted from Maui trail

Maui Fire Department personnel rescued a female hiker who had lost her way while hiking in Iao Valley on Sunday.

After a land and air search, rescue personnel were able to make cellphone contact with the woman, who told them she was by a stream with her dog. The rescuers located the woman and airlifted her and her dog to a parking lot. No injuries were reported.
