Police investigate report of gang rape
Police were investigating a report that a group of males sexually assaulted a 26-year-old woman early Saturday morning in Waikiki.
The woman reported that the males, whom she did not know, sexually assaulted her sometime between 1:20 and 2:20 a.m., police said. Detectives were investigating and further information was not available.
Body found in tent at Waimanalo park
Police officers recovered the body of a 42-year-old man from a tent Friday near the water at a Waimanalo beach park.
Police said the man was found lifeless about 6:30 p.m. and pronounced dead at the scene. There was no sign of foul play.
Injured woman rescued at Maunawili Falls
Firefighters rescued a woman who was hurt after jumping into a pool at Maunawili Falls on Saturday.
The woman leaped from a waterfall and hurt herself landing in the water, said Honolulu fire Capt. Gary Lum.
Firefighters were dispatched at 12:46 p.m. About four firefighters hiked to the woman and prepared her for transport.
A fire helicopter carried her in a basket to Maunawili Valley Neighborhood Park, where firefighters transferred her to paramedics at 1:40 p.m. Paramedics took the 54-year-old woman to the hospital in serious condition, an Emergency Medical Services supervisor said.
Search goes on for man who shot couple
Police continue to look for a gunman who shot two people in a botched robbery attempt May 25 in Waipahu.
Police said the two victims were released from the hospital on the night of the shooting.
The victims, a 39-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, drove into the parking lot of Bank of Hawaii at 94-712 Farrington Highway about 7:42 p.m. when a man approached. He demanded that the victims get out of the vehicle and fired several shots when the driver started to drive away, police said.
The gunman fled on foot and may have gotten into a light-colored SUV parked in the Waipahu Festival Marketplace on Waipahu Depot Road, police said.
The gunman was described as 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium-to-husky build and black hair.
