Free meals will be offered to children at 49 public schools statewide during the schools’ summer sessions, even to kids who are not enrolled in those programs.
The Seamless Summer Option for Children is designed to make sure that low-income youth do not go hungry when school is out for the summer. It is funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
The schools will offer breakfast or lunch, or both, to all children 18 and younger on weekdays except on June 11, 22 and 29 and July 4.
In the Honolulu District, the summer food service will be available at Anuenue School, Farrington High, Fern Elementary, Jefferson Elementary, Kaimuki High, Kalihi Waena Elementary, Kawananakoa Middle, Lanakila Elementary, Linapuni Elementary and Roosevelt High.
