Expect traffic delays this weekend.
Kalakaua Avenue will be shut down during the Pan-Pacific Festival’s Hoolaulea block party Friday and parade on Sunday.
In addition, the King Kamehameha Celebration Floral Parade, starting at 9 a.m. Saturday, is expected to have 6,000 marchers, 50 vehicles, 10 floats and eight bands as it proceeds from downtown to Waikiki. The parade route starts at King and Richards streets, proceeds on King to Punchbowl Street, to Ala Moana Boulevard, to Kalakaua Avenue and to Monsarrat Avenue, and ends at Kapiolani Park.
For the Pan-Pacific Festival, Kalakaua from Lewers Street to Kaiulani Avenue will be closed Friday from 5:30 to 10 p.m. for the Hoolaulea, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m.
On Sunday, Kalakaua from Saratoga Road to Kapahulu Avenue will be closed from 4:30 to 7 p.m. for the 5 to 7 p.m. festival parade.
During the parade, motorists can get to the Halekulani, Outrigger on the Beach, Sheraton Waikiki and the Royal Hawaiian Hotel via Kalia Road and Lewers Street.
